Pre-order the Essential Phone from Sprint Today

We've been hearing about the Essential Phone ever since Andy Rubin first teased the picture on Twitter back in the end of May. It's been a major roller coaster, though, as for availability, or even official release dates are concerned. What we knew up til now is that it's an edge to edge display with a widow's peak, it comes in black and white, and that it's Andy Rubin's first glory child since he has left Google  three years ago back in 2014.

LG G6 Full Review: LG's Come Back King

Slim bezels, waterproofing, a metal chassis, and a headphone jack. LG decided to drop the modular failure of last year and instead bring forward a brand new display to review.

The Bezel Shrinking wars are in full force, and LG has brought a brand new weapon into the arena. Instead of the traditional aspect ratio of 16:9 which is on 98% of all the smartphones you’re used to today, The LG G6 sports a 5.7” Quad HD screen with a taller, but not much wider, 18:9 aspect ratio.

Unboxing the OnePlus 5

On June 20, 2017, OnePlus had a recorded announcement broadcast the interwebs in order to announce their newest flagship, just about 6 months after their latest. Their schedule is getting tight these days. Their news was the OnePlus 5, a dual camera spectacle which they want you to know that they are about the full package and not just the individual parts.

Before we can review any new device, we've got to take it out of the box to see what all is available. I'll run down the list of specs and show off everything that comes in tow as we unbox the OnePlus 5.

The OnePlus 5 is Official

The OnePlus 5 is now official. For the third year now, OnePlus has set out to become a "Flagship Killer" with awesome state of the art specs at lower than flagship prices. It's been a somewhat rocky three years being that the inaugural year had a great phone with a not so great launch, they left some arguably necessary specs off the second phone, and the third phone was replaced by the fourth phone within a few short months.

Carl Pei (CEO) claims that this year, it's all lessons learned taken into account to build the OnePlus 5. And although they pack a punch, the specs are not the star of the show. Here is a run down of the OnePlus 5 spec list:

Verizon Wear24 Unbox Ceremony

And out of nowhere, Verizon enters the wearable ballgame in 2017 with the release of the Wear24 smartwatch. Brought to us from an unknown manufacturer, the Wear24 smartwatch released in May 2017 and is packed with Android 2.0 goodness.

With three colors to choose from (Stainless Steel, Gunmetal Gray, and Rose Gold), the Wear24 theoretically should have the design to bring a personal touch to your daily decor. Since it includes an LTE radio and sim card capabilities, the Wear24 will become a true extension of your smartphone aside from just the occasional notification.

After you watch the video, I encourage you to leave a comment and tell me which one you want. If you're the first to ask for it, I'll send it to you.

Pure 2 Tempered Glass by BodyGuardz

Admittedly, I've been very hesitant to try out the Pure 2 tempered Glass screen protector, or any tempered glass for that matter. I received one from my friends at BodyGuardz for my personal Google Pixel which I had already installed, what I thought, was the best screen protector money could buy. This is because the installation process was so easy, it's warrantied, and it doesn't peel off easily.

Also, it's because with all my experience and knowledge about Android phones, and mobile tech in general, I don't necessarily trust tempered glass to stay "scratch free" or even keep my phone's actual glass display from breaking. You should also know that I work at a 9 to 5 where I support 1,600 customer's and their smartphones, and their #1 complaint about tempered glass is that it doesn't get close enough to the edge and that the edge of the tempered glass distorts the image under it, as if it were a small magnify glass trying to blow up the image underneath it.

None the less, this is what I do of my own accord, and I felt it would be a disservice to you, and my friends at BodyGuardz. I have to bite the bullet and remove my "perfect" screen protector to do this review.

Unboxing the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+

Samsung has done a great job this year with it's design choices. Looking at the pics from other blogs, the hands-on videos from the press release, and now finally getting the set in my hands. These phones have topped the style charts. I'm blessed that my friends at Verizon were generous enough to let me review both models side-by-side. But first "What's in the box?"

Unboxing the LG G6 from Verizon

In true "Better Late then Never" tradition, I've finally been able to get my official LG G6 unboxing video edited and published. And guys, it was worth the wait. I really like this phone. It had some great surprises when I laid my eyes on it for the first time.

Looking for a Rugged Case that Won't Break the Bank? Check Out UAG

I've never been a fan of rugged cases for my smartphone. They are thick, bulky, and generally are hard to put on and take off, as well as trap dirt and lint. But that's just not the "case" with UAG. (See what I did there?) Urban Armour Gear makes some rather nice rugged cases for your top end smartphones. They look to hold up well to regular drops while keeping the phones physically in tact.

Full Review of the LG V20

What's the first thing I should say about the LG V20? It's a big phone. It has a massive screen! In fact its a 5.7" Quad HD screen. You can get a lot done with a screen that big. Which is good. It's also an LCD screen, which means it shines a little bit brighter than LED, so in the dim light, it has some light bleed along the side. Its got an extra two inches of screen across the top. This two inches are used to access quick toggles, notifications, the time. You can in even personalize it with font and letters. On the top of mine I wrote "The Android Anthem".

My 5 Favorites Things About the LG G6

Every new phone has a few gimmicks. Sometimes, a new phone will have more than one. Not all of these gimmicks are brand new. The LG G6 brings a few of it's own to the table. Here is a short list of my 5 favorite things about the LG G6. Feel free to share!

Waiting in Line for 12 Hours: A Nintendo Switch Story

My whole family of four are big Nintendo fans. Up until Minecraft, my wife and I had never purchased any other system other than a Super NES and a Nintendo Wii. Minecraft is the one and only reason why I picked up a used Xbox 360 for the kids. I ended up playing it just as much too though. Needless to say, we do not see ourselves as "gamers".

When I first saw the Nintendo Switch trailer on YouTube in October 2016, I couldn't wait to share it with the rest of the family. Every one of us gathered around the TV to watch a 3 and a half minute teaser trailer, and we watched it several times. But this teaser trailer came out a little over 4 months ago. I knew there was a "pre-order" date, but it was in the middle of the night on the Eastern seaboard and I haven't made up my mind to spend the money. On January 13th though, the pre-orders were gone like yesterday is gone. The way I saw it, i had a month and a half left to make up my mind.

Unbox & Setup of an Insta360 Air Panoramic Camera

This is a brand new device that hasn't even hit the market yet. Still in a very successful Indiegogo campaign, the Insta360 Air is a 360 degree panoramic camera that attaches directly to your smartphone's USB port.

This cool little camera is smaller than a golf ball and still fits nicely in your pocket. I'm probably going to have a lot of fun reviewing this bad boy. But before we can get started, we need to take a look and see whats all involved with this hardware and it's packaging. Now begins, the unboxing of the Insta360 Air Panoramic Camera.

Unboxing the LG V20

With the whole left behind by the Samsung Galaxy Note 7, the LG V20 couldn't have come at a better time. The footprint is similar and it has some extra options no one else had (at the time). Not all of it's internals are as "new" as could be, but from what I've seen from other phones, it shouldn't have any problem keeping up with the "task" at hand.

This video was recorded in November 2016. Due to some bittersweet personal circumstances, I'm just now getting it uploaded. Sorry for the delay. But before we can review a phone, we have to do a ceremonious unboxing video. Thanks to my partners at Verizon, here it is, the unboxing of the LG V20.
