Waiting in Line for 12 Hours: A Nintendo Switch Story

My whole family of four are big Nintendo fans. Up until Minecraft, my wife and I had never purchased any other system other than a Super NES and a Nintendo Wii. Minecraft is the one and only reason why I picked up a used Xbox 360 for the kids. I ended up playing it just as much too though. Needless to say, we do not see ourselves as “gamers”.
When I first saw the Nintendo Switch trailer on YouTube in October 2016, I couldn’t wait to share it with the rest of the family. Every one of us gathered around the TV to watch a 3 and a half minute teaser trailer, and we watched it several times. But this teaser trailer came out a little over 4 months ago. I knew there was a “pre-order” date, but it was in the middle of the night on the Eastern seaboard and I haven’t made up my mind to spend the money. On January 13th though, the pre-orders were gone like yesterday is gone. The way I saw it, i had a month and a half left to make up my mind.

Well, in that short time, we built up our hopes so high, there was only one thing left to do, wait in line. I originally intended to show up at 8AM the day of release (3/3/2017) which would be 2 hours before normal store hours. But on March 2 I read only BestBuy.com that they were having a midnight release.
Oh crap, I’ve got work. I’ve got family. We’ve got piano and Ukulele lessons tonight. But I bit the bullet and got in line anyway. My wife wasn’t too mad at me. In fact, she brought us doughnuts, See in the video how it all pans out. And then go to Blake and Lydian HD to watch their video where they unbox the Nintendo Switch.

Did you wait in line somewhere for the Nintendo Switch, or where you smart enough to pre-order?
